City to host neighbourhood coffee chats on draft zoning bylaw rewrite
The City of Revelstoke is inviting community members to a series of coffee chats on the city’s Zoning Bylaw Comprehensive Rewrite Project.
The coffee chats, which will take place in council chambers, are educational sessions that will run on a neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood basis. They will allow residents a chance to ask questions about the changes specific to their property and neighbourhood.
In a statement, the city said zoning impacts every property owner in Revelstoke. With the zoning rules being updated, the city wants to help property owners understand the upcoming changes.
Zoning bylaws influence development by setting rules about what can and cannot be done on a property, such as what types of buildings can be constructed, the density of a development and whether a property can be subdivided. Revelstoke began working on a zoning bylaw rewrite in 2022, following updates to the Official Community Plan and completion of a Housing Action Plan.
Residents interested in attending the coffee chat for their neighbourhood are encouraged to review the zoning bylaw changes in advance.
Information about the zoning bylaw changes, as well as a draft new zoning map and details on the dates and times for specific neighbourhood coffee chats can be found by visiting TalkRevelstoke.ca or by calling Development Services at 250-837-3637.
