Youth program, community focus contribute to golf club’s success
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Revelstoke Golf Club. It’s also PGA of Canada Executive Professional Dean Jackson’s 10th season with the club.
“So pretty special to be here during the 100th year. It’s a little bit of a milestone for myself being here 10 years, so that’s pretty cool, and it’s fun to watch this place evolve and grow,” said Jackson.
Over the last decade, Jackson says the culture of the Revelstoke Golf Club has changed, with a shift towards creating a more family friendly environment. In 2017, the club implemented the junior community program that lets youth under the age of 18 to golf free of charge.
“And when you do that, the parents have a place to hang out, and then they get involved. And I really do, truly feel that that is one of the main factors of the golf club sort of flourishing in the last quite a few years,” said Jackson.
