LFI compost coordinator on new CSRD rules for business waste
Starting May 1, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD’s) rules for the amount of compost businesses can dispose of in garbage are in effect at the Revelstoke landfill. Isaac Burkham is the compost coordinator for the Local Food Initiative (LFI), a position funded by the CSRD. His job is to help businesses in town transition to separating compost from other waste. The idea is to keep compost out of the main landfill, and instead use the facility that became operational last summer.
