Stoke FM Knows BC Wine Industry & Hume Hotel Water Damage
The effects of the last few years of climate change disasters have had a strong negative impact on the BC wine industry. Bringing in almost $4billion to the province’s economy every year, including nearly half a billion in tax revenue, wine production is quite important. The industry is asking for over $315 million in government assistance to replant over 7000 acre of vinyard.
A drunk guest trying to “fix a leaking washroom sprinkler” has caused around $200,000 in water damage to the historic Hume Hotel in Nelson, with two premium suites, and two restaurants being forced to close.
