After Revy crime spree cops say, lock up your cars and valuables
There was a crime spree the night of Oct. 5 in the Southside neighbourhood of Revelstoke. Cash, wallets and valuables were stolen from unlocked vehicles, RCMP said Friday, Oct. 6 in a press release.
The thieves used the stolen money to buy gas and other stolen items locally.
As well, an older blue GMC Acadia was stolen from the 1500 block of West Third Street. It hasn’t been recovered.
In another release Friday the cops say that $20,000 worth of electronic audio and visual electronic equipment was recovered on a residence on Airport Way.
The gear was stolen early in the morning Sept. 23 from downtown “shortly after the close of the Luna Festival events,” the release said.
After investigating, the RCMP “were able to determine” the gear was being stored at the Airport Way resident.
They got a search warrant Aug. 26 they searched the property and found the stolen property.
There was only one person living on the property. They were later arrested. Their first court appearance is on Nov. 1 at the Revelstoke court house on charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000.
The gear has been returned to the owners.
The police are still investigating all the thefts.
