Revelstoke Mountain Resort delays ski hill opening due to low snowpack
For the first time since opening in 2007, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is delaying the start of the ski season because there isn’t enough snow on the mountain.
The hill was supposed to open on Dec. 2. Now the opening is postponed until further notice.
RMR says that its operations team is monitoring conditions daily. The resort’s snow report shows a base of 54 cm. In an email, a spokesperson for RMR said they can’t quantify how much more snow they need before it’s safe to open.
“The decision is based on snowpack, coverage, and overall state of the run from the top of the lift to the bottom. Fortunately, there is snow in the forecast starting this weekend,” they said.
The forecast is calling for snow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
