Searching For The Next Generation of Radio Lovers – Clone
Stoke FM Radio Society AGM Set to Elect New President and up to 5 New Board Members
Stoke FM was born at a keg party in 2011 and came to life while broadcasting from Scott Duke’s basement on CP Hill. The not-for-profit station has grown up since then. It now boasts a trendy downtown location and permanent staff. It has partnered with 140 local Revelstoke businesses, sponsors events, cross promotes up and coming artists & shows, and has a loyal following. However, like anything that develops organically, the people who have been with it since the beginning now need to move on. The current volunteer-based board of directors has grown-up alongside the station, and now have careers, kids, and busy lives. It is time for them to step down, and let the next generation of go-getter-radio-lovers take up the mantel and steer the station into the future. The Stoke FM annual general meeting (AGM) will take place virtually on June 1, 2020 at 7:30 pm.
The AGM is open to the public, and all current members have voting rights in the board of directors’ election. During the AGM, Stoke FM will be electing a new president and up to five new board members. Stoke FM is calling on you to show up and help find the next generation of radio lovers. The station is looking for individuals who have:
- Experience in radio operations
- Experience running a small business
- A background in finance or law
- Experience or background in advertising
- Experience with grant writing or fundraising
- Or a general passion for radio and a strong desire to learn
Stoke FM is a community radio station, which means that it’s powered by you, the community of Revelstoke. It is a place where locals can produce and broadcast their own programs and participate in operating the station. It is a community space for people to meet and collaborate. Which is totally fun and potentially life-changing! It typically leads to individual creativity and self-empowerment.
Stoke FM is always looking for new radio hosts. Hosting a show is a fantastic way to show off your favorite playlists, boast about how you found that niche indie track before anyone else did, throw a dance party for your friends, or shout out to the cute girl you met on the trail. The potential for creativity is endless.
If you are interested in getting involved with the station and want to attend the AGM on June 1 at 7:30 pm, please send an email to info@stokefm.com are we will send you a Zoom link.
