Rural Food Banks Study results
The Land to Table Network Society along with the Community Connections Revelstoke conducted a study. Using four rural food banks — in Revelstoke, Sicamous, Golden and Invermere, they examined whether it benefit the food banks to work more collaboratively.
They determined that the food banks would save a marginal amount of money if they collaborated more, but that the effort it would take to rehaul their operations wouldn’t be worth it. In other words, the food banks don’t have the capacity to implement systems of collaboration.
Here Sammy Blair, the food security manager at the Land to Table Network Society, and Hannah Whitney, the manager of the Revelstoke food bank, talk about the results of the study.
