January’s polar vortex and mild temperatures earlier in the winter have put a massive dent in British Columbia’s cherry industry, says the BC Cherry Association’s president, Sukhpal Bal.  The provincial and federal governments will likely have to step in to help subsidize the industry.

Archimedes’ Death Ray was said to be a series of mirrors used in conjunction to repel Roman invasion of the Greek island of Sicily in the second century BCE.  Although no physical evidence of the device has ever been found, there are numerous mentions of it in historical texts through the centuries, leading some to put the theory to the test.
