The Canadian Government is attempting to convince the nation’s grocers to sign on to a code of conduct to prevent consumers from being gouged, and to allow smaller players to get into the industry. However, Costco has argued that they’ve already done their part, whilst Loblaws and Walmart are refusing to this point, saying the increased competition would further raise prices, in spite of the fact that all historical economic evidence would suggest otherwise. Last week, a driver under apparent metal distress, drove erratically along the Trans-Canada Highway between Golden and Salmon Arm, causing damage and injury to others. The suspect was apprehended at a service station in Salmon Arm.
