Brothers face charges after assaulting police
Two Revelstoke police officers were assaulted while attempting to arrest a man earlier this month.
According to Revelstoke RCMP, the officers were called to the downtown core to investigate a report of an assault on January 13 at 12:30 a.m. Police then arrested a man who was identified as the perpetrator.
The man began to resist and fight with the two police officers. A second man then became involved and assaulted one of the officers from behind, hitting them in the back of the head. Both men continued to resist, but were eventually taken into custody after a third police officer arrived on scene.
The two initial responding police officers received minor injuries during the altercation, but have since returned to full duties.
The two men, brothers in their 20s who were visiting Revelstoke, are facing charges of assaulting a police officer, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. They were released on a promise to appear in Revelstoke provincial court.
